Niepoort Port, 1934
Colheita Port 1934 Vintage, DOC Douro *** 99 Points- Robert Parker *** WINE LEGEND
Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of colheita Port wine. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months. Colheita Ports do not require decanting and are best served at a temperature between 14 and 16°C.

Sandeman, 1934
Sandeman 1934, DOC Douro Neck label Bottled in 1936 by Findlater, Mackie & Co Ltd, Hove
It all started in 1790 when the 25-year-old son of a Scottish prosperous cabinetmaker asked for a 300£ loan from his father to set up as a wine merchant in London.
This ambitious young man was George Sandeman, the founder of Sandeman, who ended up establishing one of the world’s leading Port and Sherry wine businesses.
From early on Sandeman specialised in these two great Iberian fortified wines and, following a usual practice in those days, began trading not from own offices but from Tom’s Coffee house, on Birchin Lane, London. Business was agreed on a ‘gentleman’s word’ and George soon gained an impeccable reputation, characteristic of The House of Sandeman to today. …

São Leonardo by Quinta do Mourao
Very Very Old White Port (90 Years)
*** 97 Points- Wine Advocate ***
In 1927, Mario Braga, creator of the project “Quinta do Mourão”, was born. So too was born this amazing wine, bottled 90 years after as a tribute to their beloved father. Miguel Braga, the current owner, has handcrafted traditional wines, made and aged in the original estates in the Douro. This gives the wines a distinctive flavour profile. The Douro profile is more intense, dark, thick, sweet and spicy, with more intense aromas. With the release of a small number of aged tawnies, the market for these wines amongst aficionados has developed markedly in the last decade.
Golden colour. Intense and complex aromas of dried fruits associated with an amazing acidity that provides it an incredible explosion of freshness in the palate. …

Golden orange with a pale rim, 20%. Sweet nose of fragrant orange and hibiscus flowers - expressive and delicious. Later this became sweeter and more balanced. Lightweight on entry, with sweet golden sultanas. On the mid-palate and late palate there is more acidity that provides fragrance and balance. A beautiful palate, soft entry with poise and balance. The fruit is generous, sweet and ripe and still plentiful. The palate is big and rich; stunning for a port of this age. The aftertaste is amazing — so full of fruit, of rich burnt fruitcake; mouthfilling and immense. This is stunning, stunning port.".

Taylor Fladgate, 1927
Vintage Port, DOC Douro
Bottled by D E Sandeman
Taylor’s 1927 vintage port is one of the most sought-after and expensive of all vintage Ports, and this wine, from an acclaimed vintage, is at the top of the tree. Released at 'just' 20 pence a bottle in 1929 much of the stock remained unsold due to large volumes and economic depression. Now nearly one hundred years later, this is one of the most sublime and most sought after ports.
Critics reviews:
95 Points James Suckling. " This blows the '35 off the table. It is incredibly concentrated yet superbly balanced. It lives up to Taylor's lofty reputation. Medium ruby-garnet, with intense raspberry and blackberry aromas, full-bodied, with rich, velvety, ripe raspberry flavors and a long thick, rich finish. …

Vintage Port, DOC Douro - UK bottled Whitwams High Shoulder
The 1927 Taylors Vintage Port is neither too young nor too old but just right. It has a gorgeous floral, spirit lift coupled with aromas of bitter chocolate, iodine and raisins. Vintage Port, DOC Douro Unlabelled ID from cork. Excellent provenance Level Very Top Shoulder.
‘Just a notch deeper in colour than the 1912. The nose is divine: intense, beautifully defined, very Taylor’s. Quite spicy, dried orange peel, cigar box, a touch of sandalwood. Gains perfume in the glass but after 30 minutes has gone back into its shell. The palate is full-bodied, very concentrated, more viscous than the 1912. Notes of ginger, apricot, fig, licorice. Lovely ripe orange-tinged finish that goes on and on. Very sensuous; beautiful poise on the fruit.’

Tuke Holdsworth, 1924
Vintage Port
Tuke Holdsworth was the brand name of the old shipper Hunt Roope & Teage, the former owners of Quinta da Eira Velha. The company was sold to Ferreira in 1956 but the quinta was retained by the family and from that point it supplied wines to Martinez and Cockburn.
Quinta da Eira Velha is one of the oldest estates in the Douro Valley. It is believed that vines have been cultivated at Eira Velha for over 600 years. The vineyard and buildings occupy a southeast-facing slope between 160 and 390 meters above the confluence of the Douro River with its tributary, the Pinhão River.
In 1893 it was purchased by the prominent Port wine merchant Cabel Roope. …

Pale tawny brown at the core, fading to amber with olive highlights at the rim. Faultless nose, extraordinarily complex, with notes of cedar, tobacco and orange flower perfectly intertwined, a sumptuous mellow undertone of molasses and butterscotch and a halo of fresh, minty herbal scent. An hour after decanting, the wine opened up an exotic spice chest of nutmeg, black pepper, cumin and, tobacco, later joined by coffee, aromatic wood and dried rose petal. Dense, thick, almost treacly palate, holding the spirit firmly in place and underpinned by a crisp acidity. A luscious infusion of treacle and toffee lingering into the endless finish. …

Graham's Port, 1882
Ne Oublie, DOC Douro
The Symington family has released 656 bottles of a Port that dates back to the arrival of their great-grandfather Andrew James Symington in Portugal in 1882.
The family have named this wine ‘Ne Oublie’ after the original Graham’s family motto and for the company where Andrew Symington started his life’s work. The name reflects the respect with which the family regard their great-grandparents’ joint decision to commit themselves and their descendants to Portugal, to the Douro and to Port.
Now 130 years later his direct descendants have bottled one of the remaining three barrels. The other two barrels have been entrusted to the next generation of the family and it is they who will decide their future, in 2025 at the earliest. …

Millennium Port 1880 Colheita Port Bottled by Niepoort in 2002, DOC Douro.
MAGNUM 1.5 L
Cristiano van Zeller (ex Quinta do Noval) discovered the 1880 Port in 1999 at a winery in Regua (River Douro) that was closing following the death of the owner. Cristiano was interested in acquiring stone lagares (foot treading tanks) for his new winery but they also asked if he was interested in any old stock. Most was uninteresting but at the rear of the winery were three 20,000 litre casks, two empty but one containing 10,000 litres of 1880 port, 10,000 litres having evaporated during the intervening 119 years. The intention was to bottle the wine as 100 year old (for the millennium) but that …

Porto Valriz, 1858

Coimbra de Mattos
This Port wine is one of the oldest available in the world! The wine was produced in 1858 by Domingos Ayres de Mattos (1829-1890) and kept in bottles in the cellar of his residence, “Casa de Cima”. Domingos’ son Antonio Ayres de Mattos (1879-1956), father of the current owners of this family owned business, was aware of the wine’s exceptional quality and (possibly motivated by sentimental reasons), wanted to leave the destiny of such a ‘treasure’ to his heirs. The wines were tasted in 1969 and again in 2013 for quality control. Almost the entire stock was found to be in perfect condition. In 2013 the owners decided to re-bottle and sell a small quantity of this exceptional port. …

Palmer Cask 150 | 150 Year Old Tawny Port
What happened 150 years ago? It was the time of Romanticism and the invention of dynamite; of the visionary novels of Jules Verne and of the first telegraphic connection between Portugal and England; but also of the appearance of phylloxera in Europe. While all this was happening, a port wine was ageing calmly in the cellars of the Douro.
Palmer Cask 150 is the survivor of a time of change, invention and plagues. His real story is printed in gold on the glass of the bottle, in direct contact with the wine. While its label tells the story known by all, the one of its time, it also conceals part of that memory. …

Messias
White Sweet Port
White port, made from a blend of local white Portuguese grapes is a little less intense than a tawny or a ruby and is one of the great summer sun-downers, simpler than fino sherry but just as refreshing!
This sweet white port from Messias has a lovely golden colour in the glass and a slight citrus aroma with a hint of wood. Fine and well balanced it is a superb after dinner drink, aperitif or, like they do in Portugal, mix in equal parts to tonic and garnish with a slice of lemon - a refreshing change to G&T.
Messias was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who served as chairman until 1973. …

Tasting Notes:
A remarkable medley of ripe red and black berry flavours, with ripe cherries, plums, and dates, exhibiting some concentration and depth. Fresh-faced and youthful, the Messias Ruby Port delivers lip-smacking sweetness with subtle tannin. …

Churchill's Port, 2011
Vintage Port, Douro
2011 has been widely declared a vintage year with quality levels hailed as exceptional across the board. Johnny Graham's Churchill's 2011, from Quinta da Grincha on the south bank of the Douro, is classic in style and has decades of ageing potential. The complexity and character of the wine is extraordinary and despite being made in very small quantities it is hard to think of any other wine producing region that can offer anything of comparable value. The Churchill's 2011 shone at a recent tasting of all the major ports and at this. Drink 2020 – 2035+.

Quinta do Vesuvio Capela, 2011
Capela Vintage Port
SINGLE BOTTLE 75cl
The Capela da Quinta do Vesuvio is made in years when truly exceptional wines are produced – the only prior release was in 2007.
The principal grape varieties chosen were again the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and the Sousão, all of which performed magnificently at Vesuvio in 2011. For the first time ever, Charles Symington included a small parcel of Alicante Bouschet in a Vintage Port. Through ongoing evaluation over the last few years, the Alicante Bouschet has shown itself to be a very impressive variety, contributing structure and colour, due to its intensely coloured berries.
The Touriga Nacional and the Alicante Bouschet were picked and fermented together on one lagar, as were the Sousão and Touriga Franca in early October. …
