  • Description

The Messias Tawny Port is a style of fortified wine produced by Caves Messias, characterized by its amber colour and complex flavour profile that develops from extended aging in wooden barrels. Such wines are typically less fruity and more nuanced compared to Ruby Port.

    Tasting Notes:
Amber colour with aromas of dried fruits, toasted nuts, caramel, and occasionally a hint of spice or vanilla. On the palate it is smooth and balanced, with notes of nuts, dried fruits (such as figs and raisins), caramel, and hints of citrus peel.

    Serving & Food Pairing
Tawny Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 12-13ºC they will work wonders if pairing with treacle tart, crème brulee or nut based desserts, like hazelnut praline.

Messias a renowned Portuguese wine producer, has a history dating back to 1926. Located in the Douro Valley, it is known for its high-quality Port wines and a range of still wines from various regions. The company produces traditional Portuguese grape varieties and aged them in oak barrels. It also produces still wines from regions like Douro, Dão, and Bairrada. With several quintas, Messias is family-owned and committed to quality and tradition, showcasing Portugal's diverse wine regions.
