Toro Albalá

POLEY PALO CORTADO "En Rama", 25 Year Old | 50cl Bottle
***93 Points - Robert Parker 's Wine Advocate***

Palo Cortado is a rare type of "sherry-style" wine that is initially aged under flor to become a fino or amontillado, but inexplicably loses its veil of flor and begins aging oxidatively as an oloroso. The result is a wine with some of the richness of oloroso and some of the crispness of amontillado.

Tasting Notes Amber colour with copper and greenish reflections. Very intense aroma with tobacco leaves, wood and spices like pepper and clove aromas, notes of citrus peel and fine pastries. Nuts like walnut or hazelnut nuances. On the palate it is dry, but mouth-filling, well-defined acidity that disappears to leave room for a saline sensation.

Chateau Canon la Gaffeliere, 1999

Grand Cru Classe St Emilion, Bordeaux
** 92 Points- RobertParker.com **

Canon La Gaffeliere’s is an outstanding 1999 vintage Bordeaux wine. Robert Parker – 92
The opaque purple-colored 1999 is a strong effort for this vintage. It displays a sweet nose of pain grille, smoke, meats, graphite, blackberry, and cassis liqueur. The wine is full-bodied, deep, powerful, and rich, with sweet tannin and low acidity. This is a blockbuster effort for a delicate vintage such as 1999. [30/04/2002]

Vinous – 90
Good medium ruby. Aromas of plum, currant, game and leather. Silky-sweet and aromatic in the mouth, with lovely vinosity to frame the expressive flavors of roasted plum, currant, black cherry, minerals and dark chocolate.

Chateau Cos d'Estournel, 1999

St Estephe, 2nd Growth Classification, Bordeaux

This has a ripe strawberry, blackberry almost floral nose although there is a slight ephemeral quality to it. Lacks the dimension of say the ’90 or the ’00. Traits of raspberry, scorched earth and a touch of cedar/mint emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, good acidity, quite rounded and harmonious.

Château Cos d'Estournel is a prestigious wine estate located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux, France. Established in the early 19th century by Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, the estate is renowned for its grand architectural style, including the iconic pagodas that distinguish its winery.

Chateau d'Yquem, 1999

Sauternes 1er Cru Classe
Half Bottle (37.5cl)

Yquem is without doubt, one of the world's finest sweet wine producers, of whom Robert Parker comments: "There is no other wine in the world like it, and there is no other luxury wine that can possibly justify its price as much as Yquem. The remarkable amount of painstaking labor necessary to produce the nectar known as Yquem is almost impossible to comprehend."

Reviews: A golden, straw hue. The nose is predictable and linear compared to the other Yquem's that I have tasted. White flowers, acacia, rather like a sweet Auslese! The palate is lively, rich, moderate acidity.

Chateau La Tour Blanche, 1999

Sauternes

The 1999 la Tour Blanche is a beautiful sweet wine from The Sauternes region of Bordeaux. 1999 highly regarded and is considered one of the classic vintages from this estate. It is known for its richness, complexity, and excellent aging potential. It is a wonderful experience to enjoy it now, although it has years of life left in it. Make sure to serve it slightly chilled, around 12-14°C (54-57°F), to fully appreciate its complex flavours and aromas.

Tasting Notes The 1999 la Tour Blanche is medium gold in colour with quite an earthy, savoury nose giving up perfumed notions of orange blossoms and honeysuckle over preserved apricots, apple pie and allspice hints.

The excellent 1999 Château Lagrange is one of St. Juliens great wines - powerful, full-bodied and concentrated. The 1999 Lagrange introduces ripe fruit aromas of rich black currant and cherry, spicy, toasty new oak, minerals, cedar and charcoal. They are also very reasonably priced for their level of quality, and dependably.

Chateau Leoville Poyferre, 1999

St Julien 2me Cru Classe, Bordeaux
*** 93 Points - Robert Parker ***

*** 93 Points - Robert Parker ***
Tasted at the 1999 horizontal at Bordeaux Index. One of my favourite ‘99s, this has a very lifted, well-defined nose that eschews the more opulent bouquet that Didier sometimes conjures. Blackberry, cedar, raspberry leaf, pencil shavings. The palate is medium-bodied, not quite as ebullient as the bottle in Bordeaux last year, but it has great vivacity and purity towards the finish. Sappy blackberry, boysenberry and strawberry with a touch of Asian spice. Excellent. Drink now-2025. Tasted June 2009, Neal Martin, RobertParker.com, July 2009

90 Points - Vinous

The 1999 Clos de l'Oratoire from St.-Emilion is one of the stars of the vintage. The wine exhibits aromas of new saddle leather, damp earth, blackberries, incense, cassis, and toast. An intriguing tapenade note emerges with airing. It is full-bodied, with sweet tannin, low acidity, and impressive concentration.

Clos de l’Oratoire, located on Saint-Emilion's northeast slope, has 13 hectares of vines. The terroir of Fronsac molasse, consisting of a layer of sandy soil and a clay subsoil, is ideally suited to Merlot (80% of the vines).
