Description
Bairrada Messias Baga is a distinguished red wine originating from the Bairrada region of Portugal, crafted by Caves Messias, a renowned winery with a long-standing reputation for producing high-quality wines. This particular wine showcases the Baga grape, which is indigenous to the region and known for its robust character and aging potential.
Tasting Notes Intense ruby colour transitioning to garnet, intense and complex aroma where truffles are involved with balsamic nuances. Everything at its point of maximum maturity. Muscular profile, but with very round and precise tannins. Very long and fresh finish.
Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve your red wine at room temperature 16-18ºC. Older wines require decanting to separate grape residue and to bring out the flavours and make the wine softer and more enjoyable to drink. After this you can best wait for about 1-2 hours+ before drinking the wine. Pair your red Bairrada with roast pork with crackling or braised beef ribs which go nicely with red wines made from the Baga grape.
Messias was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who served as chairman until 1973. The management is still held by the descendants of the Messias family. Since its foundation, the company has been producing and selling high quality wines from the main demarcated regions: Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Vinho do Porto. Messias is based in Mealhada, a small city in central Portugal, in the heart of Bairrada region. Here the company has approximately 160 hectares of vineyards. It is one of the few groups which produces and sells a complete range of wines and spirits from the finest Portuguese regions as well as its own estates.
