  • Description

Justino’s Madeira Wines, S.A., is one of the oldest Madeira wine producers, going way back to 1870! Yet, despite being one of the oldest, Justino’s is certainly one of the most dynamic producers and exporters of Madeira Wine, internationally known for the quality of its wines.

This 1999 Tinta Negra Madeira wine shows a brilliant and attractive medium deep amber colour. Elegant and complex aroma, rich, ripe on the nose with hints of molasses, honey cake, caramel, walnuts and hot honey. Richly flavoured with pronounced caramel fruit flavours. This beautiful Colheita from one of Madeira's most awarded houses comes from a single harvest. Rich, complex and yet remarkably fresh.

Serving suggestions and food pairing: Excellent with tropical fruits, dark chocolate, honey cake (bolo de mel), rich chocolates desserts, petit fours, pralines, butter biscuits, fruit cake, coffee desserts, strong flavoured cheeses and as a digestive or with coffee. Serve at 16°-18°C

Storage: Madeira wines are indestructible and have the fascinating ability to remain in excellent condition for centuries. Keep your bottle of Madeira wine upright, away from direct sunlight, and it will last forever. Once opened, a bottle of Madeira wine will remain in perfect condition for months, if not years. So, don't hurry to finish the bottle. That is, if you can resist..

Light golden brown. Crème brûlée nose, like grilled brown sugar but smoky and spicy too, with just a touch of chamomile. Complex. Very fluid in the mouth (ie not viscous), cool and tangy with a lovely sour-orange flavour balancing the sweetness. (Julia Harding- MW) JancisRobinson.com
