Description
The 1974 Toro Albala PX Gran Reserva is a highly sought-after dessert wine from the Montilla-Moriles region in Spain. It is made from Pedro Ximénez (PX) grapes, which are known for their sweetness and intense flavours. The grapes are often sun-dried to concentrate their sugars before fermentation. The wine is aged for decades in oak barrels, allowing it to develop complex, tertiary aromas and flavours.
Tasting Notes
Deep, dark mahogany colour with rich aromas of figs, dates, raisins, molasses, caramel, and hints of cinnamon and nutmeg spice. Lush and velvety mouthfeel, with an intense sweetness balanced by good acidity. You'll likely find flavours of treacle, dark chocolate, coffee, and a lingering finish of candied fruits. Due to its unique aging process and the natural sweetness from the PX grapes, the 1974 vintage, in particular, is noted for its longevity and ability to improve with age.
Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve your PX wine slightly chilled between 12-14º C. A dessert in itself it is the perfect way to finish a meal but also an ideal pairing with dark chocolate, blue cheeses, dried fruits and pastry.

How to store your PX wine
Store the bottle upright in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, it can be stored for several months if properly sealed and kept in a cool place, as its high sugar content acts as a preservative.
