Description
This Fino wine from Toro Albala is presented in a unique light-bulb decanter and makes a wonderful gift. The light-bulb design relates to Toro Albala history when the winery took over the local power plant in 1922.
The fino Eléctrico is a classic wine that has been taking part in Andalusian people’s lives since 1922. Toro Albalá’s foundational winery is settled in the zone’s first power plant, which gave birth to jokes between the natives that said that the wine had electricity or that it was electric. The famous name of the fino “Eléctrico” originates from that story, as well as the original lightbulb bottle design.
Eléctrico is a fino wine made of 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes, though a biological ageing under veil of flor, produced through the criaderas and solera system during a 5-year period. The alcohol content is obtained in a natural way.
The result is a superb, complex and powerful Fino with aromas of almond, green-fruit and iodine. ‘Fino Elctrico’ is made from 100% Pedro Ximinez grapes and offers a soft mid-palate and round finish that sets it apart from its Fino brethren in Jerez. However the bright, chalky crackle, so distinctive of the Fino style, shines through. A very pleasant wine that invites you to keep drinking.

They do a bottling in March every year, and I tasted the NV Fino Eléctrico del Lagar, bottled with an average age of ten years. Every March they take the wine they are going to sell in the next 12 months and transfer it to stainless steel vats, where it's kept to be bottled unfined and unfiltered; they bottle it almost when they receive the orders, to offer a wine as fresh as possible. This Fino del Lagar is bottled with ten years of flor. Bright-colored and with some greenish tints, the nose is a mixture of yeasts, dry herbs and wet chalk. The palate is medium-bodied, with a very tasty finish, a little dusty, ending salty. These PX Finos are always fatter than those produced with Palomino, with character and some rusticity. 40,000 bottles. The price given is for 500-milliliters. 2017 Luis Gutierrez
