Description

This 1977 Vintage Port Wine from Messias is an great port from an outstanding year. Quinta do Cachão is a distinguished wine estate within the portfolio of Caves Messias. Located in the Douro Valley, the estate benefits from the region's prime terroir for producing high-quality Port wines. This vintage port has been aged to perfection and now drinking at peak.

Tasting Notes:
Pale tawny colour with garnet highlights. Caramel and nuts in the nose with cinnamon and clove spice. Well structured palate and balanced, with smooth tannins that give it great staying power. Mature, elegant and complex with an attractive and good finish.

Serving and Food pairing
When mature this port will need to be decanted to remove the sediment and allow the air to express and develop its aromas and flavours. Serve at room temperature on its own or with steak and blue cheese sauce or vintage mature blue cheeses such as stilton Cashel Blue, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Saint Augur Blue. Vintage port is also good with chocolate - a flattering accompaniment to top quality hand-made chocolates and artisan chocolate bars.
