Description

The 2019 Quinta das Carvalhas Tinto is a red wine from Portugal's Douro Valley, produced by Real Companhia Velha. This wine is a blend of traditional Portuguese grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz.

Tasting Notes: This wine presents a beautiful and intense ruby colour, with powerful varietal aromas of mature red fruit successfully integrated with vanilla nuances from ageing in oak. It is very full-bodied, harmonious, and round with flavours of black fruit, leading to a very long and velvety finish crowned by excellent acidity.

Serving and Food Pairing
Serve at 16°C. and enjoy this complex and powerful Douro Reserva with game dishes, steak, pastas or mature cheeses.

Quinta das Carvalhas is one of the most emblematic and spectacular properties in the Douro valley. Written references regarding this magnificent vineyard can be traced back to 1759. Enjoying a prominent position on the left bank of the Douro river, in Pinhão, the estate covers the entire hillside facing the Douro river and occupies part of the slopes of the right bank of the tributary Torto river. Carvalhas’ old vines, are a post-phylloxera plantation, which have reached the respectful age of a century old and represent one of the richest selection of ancient indigenous Douro varieties.
