  • Description

The 2008 Kopke White port has a cool, light-amber colour. This unique white colheita derives from the traditional white grapes of the Porto e Douro region. Starting with aromas of a Pear Clafouti and burnt sugar, this elegant port delivers luscious flavours of Japanese pear-apple, with accents of hazelnut, nutmeg and orange zest. The lingering grapefruit finish provides the perfect balance for the sweetness.

    Food Pairing:
Shows finesse and sophistication when combined with caramel desserts, dried fruits and spices, like caramel fondant with apple and ginger jelly, tatin tart, burnt cream and Cheeses of minimum intensity. Despite the age, the freshness remains. Extraordinary marriage with a refreshing tangerine parfait.

Light orangey gold. A slightly sweaty note at first, giving way to pretty orange and ripe peach notes. Creamy, generous, almost chewy on the palate, the texture enhancing the spicy freshness. Tangy and moreish. (JH)

'The nose is fine and slightly tight. It reveals notes of Zante currant, dried fig and small notes of quince, candied citrus associated with small / slight touches of cedar wood, dried apricot, spices as well as discreet hints of sweet spices and a very discreet hint of fresh walnut. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers finesse, suavity, fat, a good definition as well as a slight mineral frame in the background. On the palate this wine expresses notes of Zante currant, dried fig, quince and small notes of date associated with small touches of caramelization / pâtisseries, minerality as well as very discreet hints of dried fruit (fresh walnut, dried almond). Good length. Good persistence (with notes of almond / dried fruits).'
