Reviews: "This is often looked at as the second wine of Leoville Barton, but it is actually a separate estate, producing wines that are slightly softer than the more formidably endowed and broodingly backward Leoville Bartons. The outstanding 2003, a softer version of the Leoville Barton, exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, sweet black cherries intermixed with subtle herbal notes, roasted meats, juices, and black currants. In the mouth, it is expansive, savory, round, and seemingly on a much faster evolutionary track than Leoville Barton" Parker, Wine Advocate 1996.
"A lovely fragrant nose, quite earthy and animally with pronounced vanillary oak. The palate is tight and tannic with well-knit tannins and delicious minerally finish. Very focused. Superb. 12-25 years. Tasted again after bottling at the UGC in October 2005. No need to change my initial optimism: this is a great Langoa. A svelte, elegant nose with that animal/tarry note lending it character. Very fine definition. The palate is medium-bodied, very fresh though a little hard on the mid-palate. I am sure this will soften in time. Lovely minerally, earthy finish. Very fine." Wine Journal
