  • Description

Château Prieuré-Lichine's 2003 vintage from the Margaux appellation reflects the unique characteristics of that year's growing season. The wine presents a deep, dark ruby color, nearing opacity. On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe, raisined fruit, licorice, sweet spice, baked earth, and subtle herbaceous notes reminiscent of garrigue and mint.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with soft, round textures. Flavors of blackberries, plums, and cherries are complemented by hints of tobacco, earth, and vanilla. The tannins are fine, and the wine maintains fresh acidity, leading to a finish that includes a slight meaty note.

As of today, the 2003 Château Prieuré-Lichine is fully mature and ready for enjoyment. While it has aged gracefully, it is advisable to consume remaining bottles within the next few years to fully appreciate its developed flavors. Decanting is recommended to allow the wine to open up and to separate any sediment that may have formed.

This wine pairs well with classic meat dishes such as veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, and game. It also complements roasted, braised, and grilled dishes, as well as hearty fish courses like tuna, mushrooms, pasta, and a variety of cheeses.

In summary, the 2003 Château Prieuré-Lichine is a testament to the estate's commitment to producing wines that embody the elegance and complexity characteristic of the Margaux appellation.
