Description
Blandys Madeira has been synonymous with quality Madeira wine for over 200 years. The Blandys are unique in being the only family of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their own original wine company. The family has played a leading role in the development of Madeira wine throughout its long history and members of the family continue to live on Madeira, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.
Blandys 2009 Sercial Madeira
A dry single vintage (Colheita) Madeira aged for 13 years in 650cl casks at the Blandy’s lodge in Funchal. The Sercial grapes were predominantly sourced from Seixal on the North coast of the island. The wines were then aged for 13 years in 650cl cask at the Blandy’s lodge in Funchal. Just 2,600 75cl bottles have been released.
Tasting Notes
Open topaz colour with golden nuance, bright crystalline. Characteristic bouquet, with notes of crystallized citrus fruits, dried fruits, iodine notes and spice. Dry, fresh with salinity, citrus, long aftertaste leaving retronasal spice and citrus chutney.
Cellarage & Serving
This wine should be stored upright in a dark room with constant temperature, ideally no higher than 16ºC. Decanting is not necessary, but will help remove any deposit that may have occurred in bottle over time. It has been bottled ready for drinking and will keep for several months after opening. Enjoy slightly chilled on its own or paired with appetizers during a meal.

Reviews
“Pale-to-mid amber in hue; attractive, gently
lifted nutty aromas with a hint of wood
smoke; incisive on the palate, just as Sercial
should be, off-dry (45 g/l residual sugar)
with appetising savoury – toasty flavours,
citrusy acidity and a touch saline on the
finish. Classic Sercial”.
