Chateau Cissac, 2000
Haut Medoc
Good colour, great legs and nose. Quite nice when opened. Perhaps a trace of liquorice and a hint of 'medicinal' character but these initial characteristics soon faded. After 3-4 hours - quite rich and aromatic with good cherry fruit and a touch of maraschino at the end. Tannins have integrated completely. Excellent with roast sirloin. Cellar Tracker Review

Chateau d'Issan, 2000
Cantenac Margaux 3rd Growth Classification, Bordeaux
An outstanding wine, scoring 93 pts, from a superb vintage. Robert Parker, renowned wine critic writes of this wine....."A suave, aristocratic, classic built on delicacy and finesse as opposed to power and blockbuster fruit, the 2000 requires introspection, but what one finds is extremely rewarding. This graceful, symmetrical, refined effort displays a dark ruby/purple colour in addition to a sweet perfume of white flowers intermixed with black currants, liquorice, and subtle new oak. Medium-bodied, with sweet but noticeable tannin, and a dense finish that builds gradually and persistently, it appears to be the finest d'Issan produced in over four decades. …

Chateau d'Yquem, 2000
Sauternes 1er Cru Classe
Only 25,000 bottles of Yquem were made in this very tough Sauternes vintage. A truly valiant effort from this fine property.
"The millennial 2000 Chateau d’Yquem is a valiant effort in one of the most challenging Sauternes vintages in recent memory. The 2000 is quite deep in colour. The nose is crisp and well-defined but not the most complex, as you would expect from a truly challenging growing season in Sauternes. It is pleasant in its own way with delicate scents of tangerine, yellow flowers and Mirabelle. The palate is well-balanced with marmalade tinged opening. I like the acidity here, an Yquem with good race, although it does feel a little tapered toward the finish. …

The Secundum’s intention is to provide an approachable Vintage that offers immediate satisfaction yet is well-balanced enough to age for decades. So it is not a second wine, but instead an alternative, slightly more affordable bottling for Niepoort fans who can’t afford or obtain the regular Vintage Port. It’s a proper Vintage Port, but from wines considered not classic enough to be a Vintage Niepoort. The 2000 vintage has a slightly sweet herbal edge to the nose. Taittinger, 2000
Vintage Champagne Robert Rauschenberg design
In 1964, the 32nd Venice Biennale was the scene of a great furore. Robert Rauschenberg, a 39-year old American artist, was awarded the Grand Prize.
The contemporary art world knew that he, together with Jasper Johns, was the link which connected the abstract expressionism of Pollock and Kooning to the Pop Art of Warhol and Lichtenstein. His art, like some surrealists, was made from discarded items, the old-fashioned and the worn out. His strength lay in the fact that every piece which he collected and assembled was imbued with life to such a degree that he created space (a collage) or time (an assembly). …
