Devesa 10 Year White
The Quinta Da Devesa 10 Year Old White Port is a notable offering in the world of fortified wines, particularly because white ports are less common compared to their red counterparts. This 10-year-old port has been aged in oak casks, which contributes to its complexity and depth of flavor. The aging process allows it to develop the rich, nuanced profile characteristic of quality white ports. Clear golden colour. Intense aroma of honeysuckle, orange blossom, and caramelized pineapple notes. The palate is intense, with poached pears and tropical notes on. Very long, smooth finish with honey, caramel, and citrus.
Devesa 10 Year Old Tawny
Sweet nutty notes of marzipan blended with toasty blanched almonds and a hint of spirit. Soft, smooth and well rounded with crème caramel and flavors of Frangelico. Creamy on the opening, shows its power and its structure, evolving nicely and finishing with grip and tension.
Devesa 2016 Late Bottled Vintage
The Quinta da Devesa 2016 Late Bottled Vintage comes from a single harvest, only from noble grape varieties. It is aged four to six years in barrels before being bottled. It is without a doubt a distinct, powerful, challenging, full and harmonious LBV, with very well-structured tannins, great freshness and purity of fruit. After opening the bottle, its peak lasts for 15 to 30 days.In order to maintain the excellent characteristics of this wine, bottling uses the same method as Vintage, without any prior treatments. As it is an unfiltered wine, it can be drunk immediately, but it will age beautifully in a cellar waiting for complexity. This wine is subject to deposits and should therefore be decanted before serving.
Devesa 2018 Vintage Port
The 2018 Vintage Port is a blend of 40% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Franca and 10% Tinta Roriz, with 25% from old vines (80+ years), all aged in old balseiros (large upright barrels) for 18 months. It was bottled in May 2021, with 112 grams of residual sugar. Sexy and sensual thanks to its velvety texture, this has classic Port flavors, but it does lean a little to the soft side. With 75 minutes of decanting into a glass, it drinks decently. The fruit and flavor are gorgeous, but the structure is not quite as impressive. Still, overall, a lot of folks will find this to be a pretty Porto with a lot to offer. You can probably approach this young, but it will hold decently too. There were 3,000 bottles produced.

The NV 10 Year Old White Port was bottled in 2020 with 114 grams of residual sugar and a bar-top cork. Not showing anywhere near as sweet as the residual sugar statistics would suggest, this does still seem very rich. It is not a style that is as bright and lively as some, but there is more intensity of flavor than most. It has bitter chocolate and caramel nuances, sometimes seeming more Tawny-like. It adds some grip on the finish. July 2020 (Mark Squires)
The NV 10 Year Old Tawny Porto was bottled in 2017 with a bar-top cork and 109 grams of sugar. In fact, said the winemaker, this has more than 10 years of average age. This seemed a little creamy on opening, but it ultimately showed its power and its structure, evolving nicely and finishing with grip and tension. This is a 10 that emphasizes complexity. It is nicely done. July 2018 (Mark Squires)
The 2018 Vintage Port is a 50/30 blend of Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca, with the rest Sousão, all aged in old balseiros (large upright barrels) for one year. It was bottled May 21, 2020, with 115 grams of residual sugar. Sweet and light on opening, not showing much concentration, this does better with structure. It has some serious pop on the finish, eventually overwhelming the sweet fruit. There's a real backbone. The next day, it had fleshed out a bit too. That's just what it needed in order to shine. It had notably improved and was downright impressive, the mid-palate now coming closer to balancing the pure power. This has a lot to offer—and a lot more than I thought on my first tastes—but it needs some time to make its case better and demonstrate that all its parts are in balance.
