  • Description

Colheita Ports are aged in oak barrels for a minimum of seven years. This 2002 port wine from Quinta das Carvalhas has been aged for an extended period in seasoned oak casks, allowing it to develop a rich, tawny colour and complex flavour characteristics.

    Tasting Notes
Deep tawny with golden highlights. Intense and aromatic with a bouquet of dried figs, raisins, and prunes. There are also notes of caramel, nuts, vanilla, and a touch of spice, particularly cinnamon and clove. Smooth and velvety palate, with a rich, layered flavour profile. The aging process imparts a well-integrated acidity, balancing the sweetness of the wine. A long and satisfying finish, with lingering notes of dried fruits and a hint of oak spice.

    Serving & Food Pairing:
Colheita Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 12-13ºC they will work wonders if pairing with treacle tart, crème brulee or nut based desserts, like hazelnut praline. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months.

Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of Colheita Port wine.

Alluring, with dark tea and walnut notes leading off that suggest it will be rustic, but the texture is sublime and the notes of toffee, toasted black sesame, buckwheat and roasted plum are lovely. Long, seductive finish has a curl of woodsmoke around it. Drink now. James Molesworth Wine Spectator 2021.

This is a very fine aged tawny. It shows just the right richness as well as elegant spice, old wood and orange toffee flavors. It is a wine to savor, rich and just still hinting at fruit. Drink now. — Roger Voss
