  • Description

This extraordinary 1972 Colheita Port wine from Quevedo was born during one of the most difficult vintages on record. With meticulous care, it fermented in granite vats and aged for nearly 50 years in chestnut wood barrels. Today, it offers a harmonious and intricate palate, with notes of creme brulee, nuts, spices, and citrus, that will surely tantalize your taste buds and leave a lasting impression.

Tasting notes: This wine's aroma is as elegant as it is complex, with a delightful medley of flavours that include creme brulee, nuts, caramel, almonds, hazelnuts, spices, and citrus. The palate of this port wine is skilfully balanced, exhibiting exceptional precision and a complex array of flavours. The initial taste is sweet, followed by a pleasant acidity that balances the sweetness perfectly. As you continue to sip, you'll notice the subtle presence of spices, which gradually intensify, culminating in a remarkably long and spicy aftertaste. Additionally, notes of creamy creme brulee re-emerge, adding to the wine's overall richness and complexity.

The 1972 Colheita opens with inviting aromas of ripe plum, raisins, caramel, and butterscotch, creating a rich and layered bouquet. On the palate, it delivers flavours of toffee, coffee, and chocolate, complemented by hints of tobacco, honey, olive leaves, and resin. A subtle peppery note emerges mid-palate, enhancing its complexity. This wine embodies elegance and showcases exceptional aging potential, with its rich fruit flavours perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity and structured tannins.
