Pétrus 1980 vintage is particularly surprising. The 1979 and 1981 vintages having a fairly average reputation (for the estate), Petrus 1980, on the other hand, is a great success!
On the nose, Petrus 1980 distils aromas of black and red fruits full of sugar, burnt grass, tar and a hint of candied sugar.
On the palate, it is very rich, moderately full-bodied and shows an incredible length.
It is a perfectly ripe Petrus, filled with aromas of fruit covered in notes of vanilla, tar and blond tobacco.
