The Messias Vintage Port is one of our best value 2017 vintage ports. However, there is no compromise on quality from this popular Portuguese shipper. 2017 was an exceptional vintage for Port, and wines from this year are expected to age well. You can cellar the 2017 Messias Vintage Port for several decades, during which it will develop more nuanced flavors and greater complexity. Drink from 2027-2055+.

    Tasting Notes
Deep ruby colour, indicative of its youth and concentration. On the nose expect intense and complex aromas of ripe dark fruits such as blackberries, plums, and black cherries, often accompanied by hints of chocolate, spice, and floral notes.
Full-bodied on the palate with rich flavours of dark fruit, well-integrated tannins, and balanced acidity. The wine typically has a long, persistent finish, reflecting its potential for aging.

    Serving and Food pairing
When mature this port will need to be decanted to remove the sediment and allow the air to express and develop its aromas and flavours. Serve at room temperature on its own or with steak and blue cheese sauce or vintage mature blue cheeses such as stilton Cashel Blue, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Saint Augur Blue. Vintage port is also good with chocolate - a flattering accompaniment to top quality hand-made chocolates and artisan chocolate bars.

This wine is jammy, packed with blackberry fruits and sweetness. It also has intense acidity that shines through all the tannins to give a lighter edge. Drink from 2030. Roger Voss
