Description
This 2016 South African white wine from the famous Klein Constantia Estate is a fantastic tipple for someone who loves Sauvignon Blanc.
The Producer
The Constantia Valley, home to Klein Constantia Estate, is the oldest vineyard region in the Cape, having produced wine since 1689. Klein Constantia is family-owned with a focus on quality rather than quantity. Metis Sauvignon Blanc was inspired by Pascal Jolivet and his holistic approach to winemaking in Sancerre. Using a unique and minimalistic approach to winemaking, we were able to make a wine that shows the true expression of the Constantia terroir. The name Metis refers to the collaboration between the two countries to produce this great wine. This fusion of philosophies is reflected in the flower on the label that is a hybrid of the South African Protea and French Iris.
Tasting Notes
Bright and light in appearance with fresh citrus aromas. The wine has a round and expressive palate, full and grippy with a zesty acidity. It finishes with a long burst of mineral and lime flavours.
Serving Suggestions
An ideal pairing to seafood based dishes. Fish such as snapper, sole, sea bass or haddock is wonderful with Sauvignon Blanc. It works wonders with cheese too, especially goat and mild cheeses will go beautifully with this refreshing white. For vegetarians, vegetable heavy dishes with lots of fresh greens are a great match for grassy Sauvignon Blanc.
