Description
The 2012 Hooper's Colheita Port is a single-vintage tawny port from Portugal's Douro Valley. "Colheita" refers to a tawny port made from grapes harvested in a specific year and aged in wooden casks for a minimum of seven years before bottling.
Tasting Notes: This port offers a rich and aromatic profile with notes of dried fruits such as figs, dates, and raisins, complemented by hints of almonds, walnuts, caramel, and spice. The palate is smooth and well-balanced, featuring flavors of dried fruit, honey, toffee, and a touch of vanilla, leading to a long and complex finish that highlights the wine's maturation in wood.
Serving Suggestions: Best enjoyed slightly chilled, between 12°C and 16°C. It pairs well with desserts like almond tart, crème brûlée, or dark chocolate, and complements aged cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort. Alternatively, it can be savored on its own as a dessert wine.
Storage: Store the bottle upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, keep it refrigerated and consume within a few weeks to maintain optimal flavor
About Hooper's Port
Hooper’s Port, founded by London wine merchant Richard Hooper in the 19th century, quickly became a respected brand among British port enthusiasts for its dedication to traditional production methods and quality. In 1951, it was acquired by Real Companhia Velha, Portugal's oldest wine company, which enhanced its reach and resources. By 1971, Hooper's was fully integrated under Real Companhia Velha, sourcing premium grapes from the renowned Quinta Nova vineyard in the Douro Valley.
Today, Hooper’s produces a range of classic ports—Vintage, Late Bottled Vintage, and Colheita—recognized for their smooth profiles and complex flavors developed through extensive cask aging. With its historic commitment to quality,
