The 1955 Chianti Brolio - Barone Ricasoli Riserva is a rare and remarkable wine, crafted by one of Italy’s oldest and most esteemed wineries. The Ricasoli family, with a winemaking history that dates back to 1141, is credited with shaping the modern identity of Chianti, with Barone Bettino Ricasoli famously establishing the Chianti formula in the 19th century. This 1955 Riserva is a stunning representation of their enduring legacy and commitment to excellence.

In the glass, the wine exhibits a garnet hue with brick-orange highlights, characteristic of its advanced age and careful cellaring. The nose is an elegant medley of dried cherries, red currants, and violets, layered with earthy notes of leather, dried herbs, and forest floor. Subtle undertones of balsamic, tobacco, and spice reflect the complexity that has developed over the decades.
