Description
The 1997 Croix canon is an example of a good mature Bordeaux that shows that a lesser chateaux can age well. Classic merlot based Bordeaux nose and palate. Still a lot of fruit, a good acidity, soft tannins and some oak. From magnums the wine will have aged less and is drinking well now but will store for a few more years.
Château La Croix-Canon is one of the best properties in the Canon-Fronsac region of Bordeaux. Situated in a small natural amphitheatre on the banks of the Dordogne the terroir here is perfect for the production of good quality Merlot-based Bordeaux. The property is owned by the famous JP Moueix of Château Pétrus in Pomerol. The vineyards are planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, giving a structured, balanced wine with ample fruit and a refined finish.
