Description
A 2001 vintage Bordeaux Wine. This is a very mature Bordeaux. Fairly full bodied and creamy on the palate, plenty of tannins present though, showing some plum flavours. This excellent wine has a medium finish. Château de la Rivière, which takes its name from the adjoining Dordogne, has a rich history. Not only does the vineyard date back to medieval times, the Château was also embroiled in the numerous conflicts of the Hundred Years War. Charlemagne built a defensive fort here; the property was subsequently owned by the de l'Isle family, and in 1577 Gaston de l'Isle, the mayor of Bordeaux, built the château as it stands today.
