Description

A rare opportunity to experience mature Right Bank Bordeaux, the 1975 Château de Sales is a fine expression of Pomerol terroir and traditional winemaking. From the largest estate in the appellation, this vintage offers an elegant, fully mature wine with subtle earthy notes, dried red fruits, and soft tannins.

Tasting Notes:
The wine opens with delicate aromas of dried red berries, tobacco leaf, and forest floor. On the palate, it shows a soft, mellow structure with notes of stewed plum, cedar, and earthy spice, supported by refined tannins and a savoury, lingering finish. A gracefully aged Pomerol offering subtle complexity and old-world charm.

Serving and Food Pairing:
Serve at 16–18°C after gentle decanting to let the aromas unfold. Pairs beautifully with roast duck, mushroom risotto, or aged hard cheeses. A refined match for earthy, savoury dishes that echo its mature complexity.

About Chateau de Sales Château de Sales is a historic wine estate located in the Pomerol appellation of the Bordeaux region in France. Distinguished as one of the oldest family-owned vineyards in Bordeaux, it has been in the hands of the same family for over five centuries. The estate spans approximately 90 hectares, with 47.5 hectares dedicated to vineyards, making it the largest in Pomerol. Château de Sales produces wines predominantly from Merlot, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, resulting in wines known for their elegance, fruitiness, and well-balanced structure. While it does not have a formal classification, Château de Sales is highly regarded for its consistent quality and the historical significance of its estate.
