Description
Considered as the greatest white wine in the world, Château d'Yquem, located on a small hill, enjoys a microclimate and an exceptional terroir. The vineyard, which has no fewer than 150 parcels of different soil, is cherished throughout the year, each vine receives an average of 50 treatments per year. The selection is particularly rigorous for the grand vin of château d'Yquem: it is often said that a vine produces only one glass of wine .
Tasting note: The 1955 Château d'Yquem, Sauternes Premier Grand Cru Classé, is a stunning example of this legendary sweet wine. It displays a deep amber-golden hue, a testament to its age. The nose is intensely aromatic, offering layers of honey, dried apricot, candied orange peel, and complex notes of toasted almond and beeswax. On the palate, it is lush and rich, with a silky texture that coats the mouth. The sweetness is balanced by vibrant acidity, which keeps the wine fresh and lively. Flavours of tropical fruit, caramel, and spices unfold, leading to a long, luxurious finish. A wine of extraordinary depth, elegance, and aging potential.

Fox red. So rich yet subtle. Some umami savour but it manages to be both unctuous and vital. This wine's burnt edge does not detract but just adds interest. Fabulous!
