Founded in 1661 and a little more than a hundred years later split off from its namesake Rausan Segla as a smaller part during the French Revolution, Rausan Gassies is located on the 20 meter thick gravel bed near the Gironde in the neighbourhood of Chateau Margaux and other 2eme and 3eme Grand Cru Classé. The unique soil conditions of these vineyards make up the wealth of the Margaux appellation and produce unique wines year after year.
