Description
Château Margaux 1947 is an outstandingly great wine, particularly powerful and still very fresh. The bouquet is intense and mellow, with very ripe fruit coming through. On the palate, the power of the tannins comes to the fore, leaving a slightly dry impression, which is quite typical of the wines of this generation. This type of wine was made for long ageing. It can be enjoyed now, of course, but it can be laid down without any problem for many more years.

Reviews
On this occasion, the 1947 Château Margaux outshone even the prodigious 1947 Mouton. Offering up a decadent mélange of aromas including ripe blackberries, sweet spices, dried rose petals, licorice and sweet soil tones, it's full-bodied, fleshy and textural, with a sweet, layered core of fruit framed by ripe, powdery tannins that are still not entirely melted. Deep and multidimensional, it's a seamless, sensual wine of immense appeal. Harvest at Margaux began on September 16, 1947, very early by the standards of the period. In the estate's internal ranking system at the time, the team awarded the 1947 vintage four out of five stars. William Kelley for the Wine Advocate, Sep 22, 2022- 97 Points.
Brick-red colour. A bit musty at first, but then opens up, fragrant, perfumed, musk, flowers, behind it forest floor, mushrooms, with more air also showing notes of lovage, surprisingly fresh considering the vintage. The opening is dense and concentrated, still with fruit, which appears warm, the wine shows body, the tannins have melted away, and a very well integrated acidity supports it. Long lasting finish. A nice old wine experience. 18.5 vvPunkte, (92/100)
