The Chateau Haut Batailley from the 1981 wine vintage has a smoky, cassis, cigar-box nose. Very classic, traditional Pauillac. Palate is well-structured with good balance in an austere style. Firm tannins. Still vigorous with a cedary finish. Moderate length.
