  • Description

A rare half-bottle vintage Verdelho Madeira from Blandy’s 1982 – ideal for gifting, sampling, or enjoying without opening a full bottle. This medium-dry fortified wine showcases the elegance of aged Madeira in a compact, collectible format.

    Tasting Notes:
This 1982 Verdelho opens with golden amber hues and an aromatic bouquet of dried apricots, orange peel, toasted nuts, and subtle spice. On the palate, it’s medium-dry with bright citrus-driven acidity, elegant salinity, and layers of honeyed fruit, tobacco, and roasted hazelnuts. The finish is persistent, slightly smoky, and finely balanced.

    Serving & Food Pairing:
Decanting will help remove any deposit that may have occurred in bottle over time. Serve chilled at 12–14°C. It is excellent with semi-hard cheeses, smoked almonds, game terrines, or rich starters. Also pairs well with fruit-based tarts or savoury nut pastries. Once opened it can be enjoyed over several months.

    Cellaring Potential:
This wine is already nearly five decades old and drinking beautifully now, but its structure ensures it will remain vibrant for years to come. Store upright in a dark, fresh and dry room with constant temperature, ideally no higher than 16ºC.

Blandy's Madeira has been synonymous with quality Madeira wine for over 200 years. The Blandy's are unique in being the only family of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their own original wine company. The family has played a leading role in the development of Madeira wine throughout its long history and members of the family continue to live on Madeira, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.
