Description

The 1965 Giacomo Borgogno Barbaresco Riserva is a remarkable, rare wine from one of the most esteemed producers in the Piedmont region. As a Riserva, this wine would have been aged for a longer period before release, resulting in a depth of complexity and a refined, elegant character that evolves beautifully over time. The 1965 vintage would have developed into an exceptional wine, offering both power and finesse.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep garnet with brick-orange hues at the rim, showing its age and long maturation.
Nose: A highly complex and evolved bouquet, with aromas of dried roses, violets, earthy truffle, and forest floor. Secondary notes of dried red fruits like cherries and raspberries, along with leather, tobacco, and a hint of balsamic, create a sophisticated and captivating fragrance.
Palate: Silky and well-structured, with soft, fully integrated tannins. The wine presents flavours of dried red fruit, tobacco, leather, and truffle, complemented by nuances of liquorice, balsamic, and a touch of anise. The acidity, though mellowed, still provides freshness and balance, ensuring a harmonious profile.
Finish: Long, smooth, and elegant, with lingering notes of dried fruit, spice, and a delicate minerality. The wine finishes with a refined complexity that reflects its age and careful winemaking.
