Messias, 1965

Colheita Port, Douro

Colheita Ports are known for their elegance and finesse. The 1965 Messias Colheita Port showcases the characteristics of a single year and reflects the careful aging process in oak barrels. Only bottled recently, this wine should have maintained a lively freshness.

Tasting notes
In the glass it exhibits a brilliant tawny colour. Fresh with, with a orange blossom bouquet that brings out further aromas of dried fruits, roasted almonds and walnuts, wood and spices due to the prolonged time this wine has spent in cask. This gradual oxidation has created a soft and harmonious port full of complex flavour characteristics.

Messias, 1965

Quinta Do Cachao Vintage Port

A very rare bottle of Vintage Port from the notable 1965 Vintage. Unlike the cask-aged colheita ports from the same year, this wine has aged slowly in the bottle for more than fifty years. This is among the rarest category of ports- a port wine to be savoured and cherished on special occasions, celebrations, and moments of indulgence.

Tasting Notes
The 1965 Vintage has a medium intensity - amber with a hint of orange. On the nose the wine is clean, med to pronounced intensity, dried fruits, caramel, grenadine, mint and grilled nuts (hazelnut / almond). Sweet, med+ acidity that keeps it fresh and well balanced, full body, pronounced intensity, and superb length.

Guimaraens Single Quinta Port

Deep red, the colour of black cherry juice; 70% opaque. Dusty apples on the nose, with some spicy tobasco. Sweet in the mouth, red jelly beans but little fruit. The jelly beans come through strongly on the mid-palate. A hot aftertaste with lots of ginger that lasts a long time before dark cherry skins and black chocolate make up the finish. Graham's Port, 1965

Malvedos Vintage Port

Wonderful on the nose, full of rich spices and sweet cranberries - really very attractive. Gentle golden sultana fruit on the palate, very mature flavour profile but with plenty of dried fruits and delicious complex spices. Fragrant aftertaste with just touch of spirit before a nutty and delicious long finish that turns into icing sugar flavours. Drinking very nicely at the moment. 1965 Taylors Single Harvest Port
Includes Taylor's presentation gift box

Taylors 1965 Very Old Single Harvest Port is presented in a classic Taylor’s frosted bottle, and packaged in a high quality beech-wood box.

During its five decades of ageing in oak casks, this wine has taken on an attractive pale mahogany colour with olive amber highlights. On the nose the wine displays fine oaky aromas and complex spicy, nutty, cigar box notes against a warm mellow background of butterscotch and molasses. The smooth velvety palate is lifted by a crisp acidity which gives the wine an attractive freshness in spite of its age. The finish is immensely long with rich, spicy, black pepper flavours lingering on the palate.

Late Bottled Vintage Port

Late Bottled Vintage port is from a single year. The wine ages 4-6 years in old oak casks (opposed to Vintage that ages 2-3). LBV fills the gap between the rubies and the vintage ports since a Ruby Port should be drunk quite young and a great Vintage Port may need 15 to 20 years to really open up and show its splendour. This led to the idea in the 1960s to age the wine 4 to 6 years in large casks before bottling it.

Quinta do Noval Nacional, 1964

Quinta do Noval Nacional- Vintage Port.

1964 Quinta do Noval Nacional is undoubtedly one of the most legendary fortified wines in the world. It is produced from a small area at the heart of the Quinta do Noval vineyard planted with ungrafted vines that have remained untouched by Phylloxera

"Palish red-brown. Currant, fresh herbs, coffee and mellow wood tones on the slightly shallow, evolved nose. Offers an attractive mid-palate sweetness but comes across as quite light, finishing with slightly drying tannins and a sugary, caramel-like quality. Faded with air. "This has been on a plateau for the last 20 years," noted Seely. I'd drink it over the next ten years.
