Mount Horrocks, 2022

Mount Horrocks 'Cordon Cut' Clare Valley Riesling, South Australia

The Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut Vineyard is located at Auburn, close to the Mount Horrocks Cellar Door (formerly the Auburn Railway Station) and is planted to riesling. At an elevation of 340 metres it is a warmer site and ideal for producing this richer, more concentrated style of wine. 'Cordon Cut' refers to a complex, highly risky process requiring both skill and experience, which involves cutting the vine canes when the grapes are ripe, allowing the remaining fruit to concentrate and raisin naturally on the vine. This results in intense flavour and richness. The decision to pick is made by Stephanie, and is based on the appearance and taste of the fruit, and her intimate knowledge of the process.

Donnafugata, 2021

Donnafugata, `Kabir` Moscato di Pantelleria, Sicilly
Sweet White Wine

The Rallo family has made wine in Marsala since 1851 and their ancient cellars tunnel beneath the city. They were one of the first families to begin making high-quality table wine when sales of traditional Marsala started to decline, launching the Donnafugata label in 1983 and championing the potential of the region’s native varieties.

Today, Donnafugata has four estates in Sicily: a modern winery and 283 hectares at Contessa Entellina in the hills east of Marsala, 36 hectares in Vittoria towards the south-eastern point of the island, 68 hectares on the island of Pantelleria, and 18 hectares on the slopes of Etna.

Sweet White Wine- Half Bottle
***96 Points- GOLD- DWWA 2021***

Château Laville is owned by Jean-Christophe Barbe and his family. Jean-Christophe’s particular area of expertise as an oenology professor at the University of Bordeaux is ‘noble rot’ which, as a producer of Sauternes, he has had plenty of opportunity to study first-hand.

The vineyards for Château Laville lie on gravel soils underpinned by limestone. The best plots are used to make the Grand Vin. Several passes through the vineyard are needed to ensure that only the most botrytised berries are selected. The wine is a blend of 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. Chateau d'Yquem, 2000

Sauternes 1er Cru Classe

Only 25,000 bottles of Yquem were made in this very tough Sauternes vintage. A truly valiant effort from this fine property.

"The millennial 2000 Chateau d’Yquem is a valiant effort in one of the most challenging Sauternes vintages in recent memory. The 2000 is quite deep in colour. The nose is crisp and well-defined but not the most complex, as you would expect from a truly challenging growing season in Sauternes. It is pleasant in its own way with delicate scents of tangerine, yellow flowers and Mirabelle. The palate is well-balanced with marmalade tinged opening. I like the acidity here, an Yquem with good race, although it does feel a little tapered toward the finish.
