Exclusive to Vintage Wine and Port
Cálem’s Vintage ports are born in the Douro Superior and reflect a myriad of terroirs, which make up the classic profile of the label. The result of a blend from different plots of the varieties Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Sousão, this Cálem 2022 Vintage reflects the identity of its Port House. With a deep opaque colour, this vintage shows notes of well ripe fruit, such as blackberries, wrapped in fine notes of woodland and hints of resin. Young in the mouth, it is defined by layered firm and silky tannins, which confirm the ageing potential of this wine. Cálem's 2022 Vintage port delivers an intense and full-bodied finish.

"This Cálem 2022 Vintage port was produced from grapes grown in the Upper Douro. It is deep in colour, shows concentrated aromas and great intensity on the palate."- Carlos Alves - Winemaker and Masterblender Sogevinus

    Tasting Notes
The 2022 Calem Vintage Port presents an intense purple colour, the aromas are marked by blackberries that are complemented by notes of forest fruits, dark chocolate, pepper and slightly more resinous notes. Concentrated and intense, this is an irreverent and generous wine, with very firm tannins, suggesting great ageing potential. A Vintage that is “robust, full-bodied and vibrant”,

    The Harvest
The 2021-2022 viticultural year was hot and dry throughout, from winter to summer. Given this year's harvesting short ripening period, attention to detail in each plot and close monitoring of the grapes' maturation were key factors in achieving wines with great ageing potential and excellent quality. At the point of harvesting, the red wines were showing clean aromas with bright and deep colours.

    Serving and Pairing
Served chilled, it reveals all its finesse and sophistication, especially when paired with desserts made with caramel, dried fruit and spices, such as caramel fondant with apple and ginger jelly, tarte tatin, crème brulée and medium-strength cheeses. An extraordinary match for a refreshing tangerine parfait
